Cool Event Coming Up on Oct 24!

Use Your Roof! Project Opportunity
Build a School Rooftop Garden in Oakland!

Bay Localize has teamed up with Oakland Food Connection and the Ella Baker Center's Soul of the City Campaign to build out new garden beds at the E.C. Reems Academy in East Oakland. In prep for the winter season, we will host two workdays:

WHEN: October 17 and 24, 2009
10 am - 2 pm

WHERE: E.C. Reems Academy
8425 MacArthur Blvd., Oakland

Please join us! Please RSVP to leah@baylocalize.org for October 17 or October 24 so we know you'll be there.

Bring yourself, a pair of gloves, some snacks to share, and whatever tools you have (i.e., hammers), and let's get to work!
We will expand East Oakland's first green rooftop garden by:
  • Building 10-16 new garden beds;
  • Planting new winter crop vegetables, donated by City Slicker Farms;
  • Adding new soil to existing and new garden beds;
  • Getting to know youth and adults in the green movement; and
  • Having fun and getting dirty!
